Mesothelioma - Is Cancer Over-wintered In You?

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the mesothelium, which is a membrane made of cells that protects different organs in the body, including the lungs. Most people who acquire the cancer Mesothelioma have worked in industries where asbestos were present. Asbestos is a cancer causing agent found in insulation and flooring in many older buildings. Many people who inhaled asbestos particles into their lungs at work have contacted Mesothelioma, which is a very rare form of cancer.

Mesothelioma is mostly associated with the lungs, but can affect any of the protective sacs that surround the body organs. If a person has Mesothelioma cancer that affects the pleura tissue, this will affect the lungs. There are several different types of Mesothelioma. Those who have worked with asbestos are most prone to pleura Mesothelioma due to the fact that the asbestos was most likely inhaled. However, anyone who has worked with asbestos can contact any type of Mesothelioma. Other organs that can be affected by this rare cancer in addition to the lungs are the abdominal and reproductive organs. Although asbestos are no longer used, asbestos are still present in some buildings. Asbestos used to commonly be found in flooring, tiles and insulation until it was discovered that asbestos particles caused cancer. Most schools, businesses and public buildings have removed any trace of asbestos.

Inhaling asbestos into the lungs is thought to be the way many people acquire this form of cancer that can spread to other organs and eventually cause death. Those who have been exposed to asbestos, or worked in an industry where asbestos were present can learn more about this form of cancer online. Although Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer, those who have inhaled asbestos into their lungs are at risk for developing this potentially deadly disease.

Mesothelioma cancer is caused by the over exposure to asbestos. This disease is occurs when malignant cells develop the mesothelium which is a kind of lining which covers most of the internal organs of our body. The most common site of this disease is pleura which is the lining of lungs and chest wall. Their occurrences have also been found in peritoneum which is the outer lining of abdominal cavity.
